Watchmen on the Wall

If there was ever a time to stand with Israel, that time is now. This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible about Israel:

"On your walls, O Jerusalem,
I have set watchmen;
all the day and all the night
they shall never be silent."
There are so many reasons to support Israel as an American and especially as a Christian. Israel shares the values of America and is our strongest ally in the Middle East. Jerusalem and Israel are mentioned in the Bible thousands of times.

If anyone is confused about who the enemy is in this conflict, just look at their actions. When I visited the Gaza border in Israel this summer, I saw and heard firsthand from an IDF Sergeant how Hamas was shooting missiles at civilians and that his military base a few miles from the civilians had no missiles targeting it. Hamas kills Israeli civilians and uses Palestinian civilians as human shields. David French, writing for the National Review, covers the Gaza conflict here.

I will stand with Israel. I will not be silent. I am a watchman on the Wall.

Will you join the watchmen on the wall?

  1. I agree. There is no legitimate reason that any American should not support Israel. Although you would never hear such a claim on somewhere like MSNBC.

  2. As someone who is very interested in this conflict, I have heard of the atrocities of the Hamas and am outraged.

  3. With biases in the media and such, it is often difficult to determine the true motives behind Israel's and its enemies' actions, even if we do know the facts about missile attacks and occupations. The liberal media would have us believe that Israel is to blame for everything, the conservative media wants us to support Israel whole-heartedly in almost everything they do, but I think that both miss the point to a certain extent. Israel has long been an American ally, so politically we should stand behind them, but as a Christian, I see absolutely no reason why we need to stand behind Israel in particular. They are just as sinful as any other people on earth, and there is certainly no such thing as a perfect government.

  4. I didn't know much about the conflict with Israel and the Hamas, so the article you linked was really helpful. Thanks! I like that you can relate to your own experiences in Israel.
